Default The Big Bang Theory!!

So, I have been a member on her for awhile now and read all the post from the senior members informing disco owners to replace their drive shafts with greasable driveshafts or it will cost you a transmission. Well, I was driving down the road yesterday and BANG BANG BANG (over and over), I didn't need to get out I knew what happened. The rear link broke and fell down hit the road and rebounded back up into the side of the tranny and ripped the whole side off!! THAT SUCKS!! I had Land rover replace it three years ago because at high speeds it vibrated, so I thought it would last a bit longer before I had to replace it with a greasable one, but now I get to replace it and a tranny. Just thought I would share my experience as a proud land rover owner. Oh yeah, any suggestions on where to get a good front driveline that is greasable?
Thanks!!

Sorry to hear about that. Tom Woods sells a greasable driveshaft. It is heavy duty. I paid $394, I ordered it with the long extended life spline. Toddco Suspension sells a original shaft with greasable u-joints. Either place is a good. The flange to face length for the 2000 D2 is 24.5"

I bought mine from eBay seller Power Drive Shaft, or something like that. Price shipped was 311 and the have a no-questions-asked 2 year warranty. Great customer service. Search for them.

The thing about greaseable u-joints is that you have to grease them, or they won't last as long sealed u-joints. Read the Propshaft rebuild thread in the write-ups section.

As for where to get one, in addition to those mentioned, Great Basin Rovers is another option.

Wow, that is a good point. I'm ordering two shafts today- AC: Assuming I only drive on dirt and pavement, how often should I grease that baby?

Every 5,000 miles or 3 months is the Spicer recommended service interval for normal use.
I just do it every oil change for normal duty, and after wading or driving in heavy mud.
