Default Big Gasket job scheduled...what else should I get done?

Hey guys, I'm getting all new gaskets put in middle of next week (HG, intake, exhaust, valve, oil pan, etc). Having the machine shop resurface heads and check valves (& pressure?), ie "the whole nine". Also having a new thermostat put in at that time.

Question is, anything else that I should get done while we're dug in?

Much appreciated in advance.

Default check the block

you should check the block for warp and pressure leak tested as not to have a crack behind the liner...you can rent the test lit for $95.00 from california. I am looking at getting it also. If you have a problem with the block the rest is worthless to do. and also have raditor flushed and rodded.

Ahh yes, that is what we are getting tested! I'm a newbie so some info falls through the...cracks. (sorry)

What does it mean to have the radiator "rodded"?

having the raditor check for blocked passeges and make sure it's at full flow... they only last about 4 years and then they need replacing.... might as well do water pump also ..it cheap and piece of mind...dont forget to change the hoses.... yea...list gets bigger...

make sure you use new head bolts when putting it back together and now would be a good time if you have not already planned to install magnecor 8mm wires and bosch +4 plugs, make sure you put the thermostat in the correct way and bleed the coolant properly and you should be good to go.
