Question biggest tires I can use?

Sorry for posting a new thread but I didnt find anything in the search box (although I KNOW its in there).
2000 Disco 2
OME 3" HD lift
want to upgrade the tires and need to know the largest size of MT tires that I can use without problematic rubbing (actual damage not just an annoying noise)? Looking at 33x12.5" toyo MT's.
Thoughts and recommendations from the brain trust?

Thanks guys!

33" will be tough without an after market front bumper, they will do more than rub. And 12.5 wide will need spacers I believe. I run 3" lift with 275/70-18 BFG A/T's and ARB front bumper with no problem.

Do you have 16s or 18s?

If you want 33s you can go with a 275/70r18 if you have 18" rims. That's a 33" height but a little skinnier. Around 11.5" I think.

The 16" alternative is 285/75r16 which is also a 33" height with 11.5" width.

With a 3" lift, either of those should fit pretty well. Might have to trim the stock bumper a little or go with an aftermarket bumper but you may not even need that.

You won't have to trim the stock bumper because the first time you turn the steering wheel more than 5 degrees your tires will grab the outside lower edge of the stock wheel well and your bumper will be torn off. You could put 275/70-18's under there IF you don't have to turn and never hit a bump.

I am positive about this. I run the 275/70-18 with an ARB.

I'd take it on a truck by truck basis. I've had a couple of friends told that they couldn't run 33s "or else" and they've run them on both 2 and 3 inches lift with no spacers, trimming, or rubbing.

Hell, RTE themselves says you can run 35s without trimming on their 4" lift if you have an aftermarket bumper.

I hear you. I've had people say that to me as well then they turn out of the parking lot and the tires and the lower part of the wheel well say other wise. My old 32" Firestone AT's ( great cheap tire by the way ) would rub the lower outside edge of the wheel well with 2" when turning into a driveway with even the slightest grade. Didn't eat the bumper but it made contact for sure. If the OP wants 33"s with a 3" lift the stock bumper will be in play. Just my experience.
