Absolutely, there is a chance of rubbing.
That's insane that you rubbed on 2" with 32s. I ran 32s without lift for a while and there was no rubbing anywhere.
IMO, even with the chance of needing trimming I'd still go 33. I have 32s on 3.5" and its just too small. That said, next time I get tired I'm going to 35s and hacking fenders.

Problem, if rubbing on full lock is prevalent you can adjust the lock stops out further, problem is the turning circle is already crap and too large so that will make if even worse.
I run 255 50 R19 (RRS wheels) on a standard 2003 D2 TD5 so it'll no doubt take a different bumper and some suspension/body lift to avoid rubbing. I have to admit I have never really been into lift as mine is solely a tarmac truck for towing.

I have the same 3 inch lift, no spacers, and stock bumper. My 33x12.5 toyos only rub when my steering wheel is at it's limit, which I never turn it that far. This is also my daily driver. Maybe I just go lucky who knows.
