My near perfect 2003 D2 got pounded by hail last Saturday. in addition to the sheet metal dents, every bit of the black plastic trim including the rear license plate light bracket, left and right bumper finishers rain gutter trim and windshield pillar trim,.....all got hit. I will need to replace everything.

Thinking I will just remove the rain gutter trim for now.

Can someone tell me if the trim just presses on and off the rain gutter?

It does. I had the same thing happen last year and the plastic rails had big chips in them. I went to autozone and got 2 rolls of this black plastic U-channel that they make for the edges of your car doors. I ran it on the top of the plastic and it covered all the chips and you don't even see it. Those trim pieces new are expensive as hell. I called Will Tillery about getting some used ones and he didn't have a way to ship them to me.

If you do replace them the hardest part is getting the corners off. Take your time cuz you don't want those to break.

 

Hmmm, how wide is that U channel? My plastic trim looks like shark teeth,...thinking the usual door edge guard isn't deep or wide enough to cover the broken areas.

 

Just a thought but I saw somewhere someone that removed all of that trim and rolled on bed liner material in its place.
Great idea IMO, just a bit of work up front to get it done.........

 

 

That looks pretty good, but thinking my damage is a lot worse.....it may not be able to cover the depth of the divots.
