Default Bleeding the coolant system

Well I've bled and bled the system as described in the rave manual and still get some overflow coming back and steam per say in resivoir. Nothing crazy just being over cautious I would say. What advice y'all got?

Im still at a loss. Ordered an ultra guage so I know the exact temp since we know how unreliable the factory indicators are. The heat is blowing fine and all hoses have a firm warm feel to them after reaching operating temp. I don't know if I have filled the resivoir to full and that's why it it's coming out the overflow. If I take the overflow cap off while it's running, I can see the return coolant coming back into the resivoir. When I turn the truck off, that's when I notice the "steam" and the overflow coming out. I'm thinking I'm parinoid but can't tell anything till the ultra guage comes in. Anybody had similar issues or any advice.

How old is the reservoir cap in your truck? They fail when they get older and can cause what I think are the symptoms you are describing, although I wasn't really clear about what you wrote. It's an inexpensive, easy remedy and the right cap I s available at almost any auto parts store. No need to wait for mail order. Run out this evening and get one for $15 or less and see what happens.

its pretty new but I ordered a new factory one just to be on the safe side. It's not steaming out of the coolant tank itself. The issue is I have bled it numerous times cold and even tried it warm but I have it filled pretty full. After it reached operating temps, and I shut it off and check it, it will bleed some out out of the overflow tube and if I take the cap off, it has a bit of steam in there.

there will be steam if you take the cap off once you reached the operating temp. I dont think you should do that since its a pressurized system. Just make sure you dont over fill the reservoir.limit it up to the line where the plastic connected to the upper part. If you fill it over, then the coolant will escape through the small tube.

Since a D2 coolant reservoir doesn't actually have hi/lo fill level markings where do you have it filled to? I have mine about half an inch above the seam in the reservoir. You might be able to add a bit more, but anything over that and it will come out the black tube as it's technically over-filled at that point.

I say 1/2 inch over the tank seam = good to go.

Can you please try to describe better what problems you're having with your truck? Rereading what you wrote it's not clear you have any problem at all. Overflow is supposed to be coming back to the reservoir when the truck is running, and after the truck is at operating temperature you should get "steam" when you remove the cap. The system is designed to operate under pressure when at operating temp and what you described as steam may have just been pressure being released, with a little coolant making it seem moist.

Actually there is a fill mark on the reservoir (see attachment). The words COLD LEVEL are molded on the top and there is an arrow on the side pointing to a level about a 1/4 inch below the seam.

I don't think you have a problem.
If you bled it properly and you don't have a gurgling heater, and you are not spewing coolant out the overflow and you don't have any leaks off the engine and you don't have milky oil.... Then you probably do NOT have a problem.

That is insane my 99 & 02 don't have any writing or marks on them at all. I must have aftermarket coolant reservoirs.

On my 04 there is a marking approx 1/2" below the seam of the top half to bottom half of the reservoir. That is the cold fill level.
