Blinkers won't work when it's very cold.
1999 disco II, V8, 130k.
Anyone know why my blinkers (indicators to you across the pond) will not work when ambient temps are very low? I first noticed this problem toward the end of last winter, but then things warmed up and it never reappeared. Now that temps have dropped again, I'll have no blinkers for several miles of driving, then they just start working when they feel up to it. Once they start working they work fine for the rest of the trip. Hazard blinks normally and I have new bulbs all around. I fear it's a collision just waiting to happen. Anyone encountered this problem before or know of a solution? Thanks in advance.
Jim.

I have the same problem in my 2000 Disco II - oddly the hazards work fine, only when you use the turn signals do they pause (or not work at all) until they truck has warmed up.
Your multi fuction switch is bad, that is the switch that works your light and blinkers.
Your wiper multi function switch wont be to far behind.
For some reason this is afairly common issue with DII's.
www.atlanticbritish.com for a new one to install yourself.
Only happens when cold though. It makes no sense because DI's and DII's use the exact same switch.

Thanks all. That stalk isn't cheap. But then again its a Land Rover. Cheaper than a crumpled rear end and whiplash though. Winter blinker fluid... I like the sound of that.
Hey I've heard that when it is very cold the contacts inside of the swtich tend to shrink and therefore the blinker will not work ........... or at least be delayed. It happens in my truck when the temp gets down into the single digits however once the truck is warm all is okay. It is something I can live with but I understand if you want to fix it. One thing to mention however is that I believe it is a pretty common problem and the new stalk might do the same thing. Just a word of caution. Good luck
I have this problem too. I've heard replacing the switch is the fix but it's expensive, I'd hate to replace it and find out it was something else. Does it use a standard blinker? Anyone tried contact cleaner?
