Default Is the Block Junk?

For fun I tore apart the block from my parts truck. It had one slipped liner that punched threw the head gasket a bit with no erosion on the block face or head.

If its junk I don't really care... I'll make a coffee table out of the block and the water pump looks basically new

Are there any other parts to keep? Heads? Lifters? Cam? ect?

Sounds like the block could be sleeved or the liner could be pinned and you could still use it if needed.

I wouldn’t keep rods, or even rocker shafts It’s not that expensive for new ones.

I may keep lifters depending on how they look and look and I would keep heads.

Keep cam if lobes are ok

Keeping lifters is ok, but only if using them with that cam, and ideally on the same lobes they came from. Never put used lifters on a new or different cam. You'll waste it all.

Makes since on the lifters and not mixing and matching new stuff with old.

That's what did in the the prior owners rebuild..... too cheap to change and oil pump.

I guess keep the heads, cam, crank, starter and new water pump that was on the engine.
