The other day, while driving I hit a pot hole really hard...
Instantly sent my blower motor squealing like a stuck pig...bad enough I had to turn it off.
Today, dropped the motor, cleaned it, opened it up and lightly lubed some of the parts... There was a lot of black dust FYI
Reinstalled, still chirps, but if I give it a little punch in stops...go figure? Obviously I don't want to lean over and bang the motor while driving...that would just be silly. (and dangerous...possibly even worse than texting while driving?)
In researching the site and online there is some ideas of lubing the motor unit.
This I am going to do tomorrow as a last ditch before finding a new motor. Give it a good dose of 3in1 oil and see what happens?
Any other insight appreciated here.

Mine chirps on left turns after it runs for a couple hours or so. I have not removed it yet, but will be doing so shortly. I plan to use light grease on the bearings. I figured oil would go too quickly. I keep putting it off due to holiday travels, but I need to get to it.

Also, if possible, I may replace the bearings. I've changed brass to ball bearing before on motors. That's a pretty permanent upgrade. Many of my Radio Control Vehicles have been changed to Ball instead of Brass. Extends the life immensely.

 

Boneyard replacement is another option, or a parts guy (dismantaler). If doing repairs/rebuild, post photos for others so inclined. The art of small electric motor rebuilding is dying off as a lot of small firms close their doors. It would also be handy if people posted about successful swaps with other blower motor models.

 

I have the same problem only it happens when I push the brakes the slightest bit. Then goes in and out at random times. Its pretty annoying. I have a coolant leak and when I refill my overflow tank the chirping sound plus the waterfall behind the dash sound goes away until the overflow tank gets low again. I don't know if the chirping sound is coincidence to the waterfall sound and coolant leak or what but both seem to go away when my coolant level is topped off.

 

Pretty sure the bearings are a sealed unit. If it continues, might want to call Paul Grant for a good deal on a guaranteed used motor.

 

I did slide the motor out of its plastic housing to see what was going on.
Gentle yet firm pull once the bottom 2 screws with the rubber grommets are removed.
Used the 3in1 oil...to both clean it and lube it. Installed it but left the kick panel off for now. Although not really noticeable, the squeak is faintly still there... [i should be happy with it for now.]
May do it one last time and try to get some grease, instead of the oil, in the bearing area.

 

One other thing I just thought of before I've pulled mine out is that maybe the brushes in the motor are worn down to where the wires are actually hitting the armature. I would imagine that could also cause a squeal. You might take a look at them if you have access. I don't know yet, but will report when I get a chance to get there.
