Blown head gasket?
I have a '99 Discovery II that has been 'ticking' for a few weeks now. Assumed it was an exhaust leak where the exhaust pipe meets the exhaust manifold pipe. Now the ticking has gotten louder and I'm smelling radiator fluid, but no smoke or leaks anywhere.
Any ideas?

What's radiator fluid? You can purchase a stethoscope to listen for the "tick" and try to pin point it. The "radiator fluid" is called antifreeze and it has a very distinct smell, and you should have a real good look around for leaks. They are pretty common and can be small and easy to overlook.
Have you looked in to Disco Mikes major service? I would suggest that you start that maintenance and get your truck healthy first. Its very important to find where the coolant smell is coming from and fix that as a over heat will at minimum cost you a head gasket job a ultra gauge will help you monitor your engine temp in digital fashion because the temp gauge on the dash is not very accurate and will fail you.
If you have not done your front drive shaft they are prone to fail and cost you a bunch of money. I sell them, and if your interested in that let me know!
In order to have a head gasket leak you have to be loosing coolant "fast or slow" you loose it so how is the level in your reservoir? Do you hear a waterfall type of noise from under the dash?
Give me some more info on your mechanical background and if you make repairs to this yourself or pay?
What kind of maintenance history does your truck have?
