Body Cotrol Unit/Module
Hello. I recently purchased a 200 Disco II that was not well treated or maintained, and am sorting out various issues, and really APPRECIATE you guys input.
So far, I have replaced the front drivers side wheel bearing, rebuilt prop shaft withe new u joints, new coolant expansion tank, new battery, replaced under the hood fuse panel.
Welcome to "Its never over in a Rover" , huh?
I really do love this vehicle, and am no down to some of the interior items of the car not functioning properly.
Former owner said that he was advised that the Body Control Unit/Module was responsible for this problem.
No radio
HVAC System comes on, just no fan
Sun Roof Issues.
No Radio.
Passenger side window does not work.
He said that when the Body Control Unit/Module starts to go bad, you will lose things one at a time.
I have also read in the forum posts, that the interior fuse panel can be part of the problem.
I see the Body Control Unit/Modules readily available, but I am over an hour from the nearest dealer, and they won't install and new unit unless it is purchased through them, and I understand that you have to have the software to program another Body Control Unit/Module.
Thanks in advance for any help, I 'm sure someone has been down this road before.
Thanks! Chip

I have read that if you replace the ECU and BCU as a matched pair there is no re-programming required. You could probably do the job yourself. Last time I was at the local boneyard they had a 2001 DII and it's ECU and BCU were still there if you need them.
ECU BCU and instrument cluster all from the same donor vehicle. Your mileage will be whatever the donor vehicle was. Make sure you get ECU with/without secondary air injection, depending on which you have. I just did mine this afternoon. Disconnected battery cables (set something on hood switch to keep switch depressed), removed ECU BCU and cluster. Installed replacements. Hooked up battery cables. Put key in and turn to position 2 to get the IDM (pass compartment fuse box) to sync to the donor BCU. Leave key in poss 2 for 10 minutes. Then start truck. Should work...I'm trying to figure out how to re sync my key fob to the donor BCU. Might not be possible without proper computer, T4, nanocom etc. See what others says but might want donor key fob as well. Not sure.
Donor key is a good idea. Then swap the chips into your key. It does require a computer of some sort to program your existing keys to the new BCU. Sorry I forgot to mention that earlier. It slipped my mind.
No worries! Hopefully the place I bought the parts from will have the key. If nothing else the OP will be helped!
