Default Bought another d2

Well, if I thought I had headaches before I just added another one lol. A guy had this 2000 d2 for sale on the forum. He started at 1000 then dropped to 500. He was only about 2.5 hours away so I decided to give it a shot. He was selling because of flashing M&S lights lights.

Over the course of 3 years he has put well over $5000 into this truck, not counting the $3000 he paid for it in 2015. Has new heads, gaskets all over, O2's and many other things. One problem I see, it was being worked on by a local mechanic that I assume didn't have much d2 experience. Parts were being thrown at this thing and the mechanics charged $90 at least 3 time for an "ECU monitor".

Anyway, has all the service records and my assumptions was the xyz. But, I decided to try a few things before I tackled that. I put in a new battery and guess what, no flashing m&s lights. I've driven it around locally, put about 40 miles on it, and it's actually a pretty nice truck. Rides good, drives great and the motor runs amazing. It needs a good cleaning as it has sat for awhile, ordered new transmission filter and gaskets because of leak. The brakes are really soft but I think it just needs a good bleeding, the brake reservoir seemed to be leaking a bit. Took it off, cleaned the inside which we as quite nasty, cleaned the seals it sits on, refilled fluid and seems to be a bit better. It will have to wait a little because of the 3-8 inches of snow coming tomorrow lol.

There does seem to be quite a bit of rust on the rear quarter of the frame. It's from Illinois so I'm sure the salt ate it up pretty good but the rest of the frame so far seems to be alright.

So, anyone looking for a good day, with a great motor and strong tranny, let me know, I might sell if the price is right. Has a few minor things I need to do, check some fuses, fix a seatbelt, etc. But again, overall, this truck seems to be quite strong was just mistreated for years and the PO took the brunt of the financial loss, but fix most issues. Also has all service records from 2015, and there are A LOT. Lol

Rust on the rear quarter of the frame is something to be very concerned about. You can replace the frame rail section but it is quite a lot of work that requires bumper removal, fuel tank removal, grinding, welding, etc. Lots of work.

Correct, it is the one .I've been driving it around a bit on these back roads and really impressed .the engine feels nice and strong. Good temps, pressure, 4x4 works well (tried it in the snow this evening).

Good thing is my dad is a master welder by career, so other than the removal and reinstall of the parts, I'm not worried about the rest. I've seen a few different rail replacements. Once it warms up I'm going to get under there and see just how bad it is. There are a few junk places in the city I'm sure I can find a decent rear.

I must say, I've driven the 2000 and the 2004 and I would choose 1 of the 2004 compared to 10 of the 2000 models. I LOVE my 2004. I may bitch and complain about it, but I'm learning that's just a typical D2 owner. I've ordered the transmission filter/gasket kit from LK8 for both rovers, just waiting for delivery .
