Default Bought first disco NEED HELP!!!!!

Ok I just bought a 99 disco 2 off a buddie. He refused toservice the u-joints, so we can all guess what happens. So now I have a 6x6 hole in the tranny. I will be picking up a tranny on monday. I have a few questions and need some answers. First he said after the u joint broke and did the damage, and it would not start. Is there a sensor that stops it from starting if it loses so much tranny fluid? And there is a little black tube that runs along the pass side of the tranny. Does any one know what that is ? And does that have anything do do with the issue at hand. I just don't want to spend all night putting in the tranny, and it not start. Also is there any post on here to help with the trans removal? Any helped would be greatly appreciated, thanks again everyone

The tranny should not cause a starting problem for you, will the engine turn over, have you reset the inerita switch on the passanger firewall?

I appreciate the help I have not reset anything. What does this switch do and can you describe a little more its location? And do you know what the tube is? I think it may be the breather tube. I just came from the Jeep world so this is all new to me. I appreciate the help.
