On my son's 96 Disco when you push on the brake to shift out of Park, can't shift out. Any ideas?

 

Do the brake lights come on?

 

I'll have to ask him as he's at a different location

 

If they don't he needs to replace the brake switch. The switch is a place to start anyways. If he is still stuck let us know because he can push in the actuator solenoid on the base of his gear selector this will allow him to move between gears and at least get to the store to get a part.

Yep, brake light switch. I've order mine on AB and stored it in my glove box just in case.
