Default Disco 1 Electrical Problems ... Imagine That

I have a 98 LSE and all the switches around the instrument cluster are not working. I looked at the wiring diagram in the Rave manual and they all share a common ground, but I tested that and they all have continuity to that ground. Is there anything else that I should look for? I could see maybe one or two switches being bad, but all 8?

I would check the diagram for a connector maybe they all run through one and it came loose, also check for power or ground coming out of the switches when you press them (very doubtful they all went bad but that will rule that out) then just work your way down the line. I would guess checking the wires at the back of the radio since they are pretty easily accessible, just check continuity from there to the switch, if its not there anywhere you have a break in the line somewhere (probably a loose plug)

I don't see any connector that they all come through, or a common fuse or anything. That was my original thought. When I saw the common ground I thought for sure taht was it, but I guess back to tracing individual wires.

my rave manual does not show 98 only up to 97 but I doubt they are much different. do your buttons illuminate? my manual shows illumination on the 2 radio switches so if they are lighting up your ground is good if not I would clean and retap the ground even if you get a good meter reading on it.

next I would (as I said before) test for continuity between the wires coming from the switch and wherever they go (I suggested the back of the radio because that would most likely be the easiest place to get to)

a few of my buttons didn't work to well but it was because of the buttons themselves, but after I replaced the radio I wasn't concerned about them anymore.

No none of them are illuminated. I will try to clean up the the ground and reconnect tonight. I will also check the fuses again. If I don't find anything wrong there I will have to trace the individual wires. It just seems that there should be a simple solution for all of the switches not working.

The rave manual I have has an electrical troubleshooting manual for 1997-1999 LHD Models so I am assuming they are the same.

Thanks again.

It is ground connection E201 in the manual (shown in picture 120). It is the one behind the driver's side kick panel. I guess I didn't actually check the ground, I checked continuity between the ground wires on the switches and the post. How should I check the ground? Just check continuity between the post and the battery?
