Default Brake job...

Everything I've found on this forum in regards to brake jobs says to remove the caliper... I was doing my second brake job to the truck today, my friend popped by who's a lotus land rover tech and asked, "why are you taking the caliper off." I told him, "so I can get to the pads... I feel like an idiot, but he pulled the pins off the top of the caliper and the pads slide right out, then we used a large flat head to compress the pistons back and slipped the new pads in... I never noticed you could do that on this truck. Took about 20 min to do the whole disco where as previously I was pulling the calipers off, bleeding lines etc...

Thought it was interesting since I read how to do the job on the forum and always saw instructions to remove the whole caliper...

The RAVE CD says the same thing, pop the pins and slide the pads out, no need to remove the calipers.
What pads are you using?

I don't know, I just asked what was the, "best," at nappa... But doing pads like that makes the whole process so simple... Can't believe I was pulling the caliper off all these years.

Yeah, if you have basic tools it'd be pretty easy to do most simple things, kinda neat.
