this was a recurring issue with my 03 disco, I replaced the bulb on the driver's side, and it would work for a day or so, then nothing. Cleaned the socket, contacts, etc, and still, everytime, the driver's side brake light was no good.

Then I realized that everytime I pulled the assembly, I was taking the weight off the harness. I realized that over time, the weight of the wiring harness hanging there would pull the wiring ever so slightly away, causing contact failure.

What I did was zip tie the harness higher so it was not hanging, therefore pulling the wiring out of the pigtail.

Problem solved.
