Default Brake Pedal Querk

Hi guys,

I just bought my very first Disco II and I've noticed a bit of strange thing with the brake pedal which I can't seem to find much information on.

Basically when you driving normally and press the brake pedal - it doesn't take till about halfway through the pedal push. However if you go to push the brake pedal again immediately after, it takes right at the top. Is this a master cylinder issue?

Any help would be super appreciated!

it's a Rover thing...basically the final brake lines are made out of rubber they tend to bulge under pressure especially after x amount of milage. The best fix is to replace them with stainless steel flex lines. Also you should look at flushing your system and making sure you have good fresh sythetic brake fluid.

thats the "disco two step" replace your brakelines with new ones (stainless are fairly cheap $100 or so) and flush out all that old brake fluid and you should have a good pedal.

That will not totally fix the problem. Even if you replace all 6 rubber lines, you will still experience that quirk although your over all braking will improve.
Rover has done this forever and so far no one has developed a fix.
