Default New Timing Cover Gasket.....

2004 Disco 138000 miles. Looks like i finally found coolant leak to be coming from timing cover gasket. As soon as i put in new fluid it just pours out of that area. the job replacing it doesnt look to hard via Rave manual. But a couple questions....how long does this job normally take? Is there anything else i may need to replace while im in there? Also how can I tell if my fan clutch is bad? Thanks!!

well in order to replace the timing cover gasket, you also need to drop the oil pan.
so you should look at replacing the timing chain, oil pump, water pump and t stat while your there. figure 6 hours for time if you dont run into problems.

whelp i got the new timing cover gasket on there along with a new oil pump. I installed a new water pump and t-stat a couple weeks ago. BUT....Now i have a new problem. The red overtemp light remains on all the time and the temp guage never moves. When I tried to crank it it sounded like it didnt want to start. Finally fired up but sounds like crap. When I accelerate there is a "tapping" sound almost like an exhaust leak. I drove it about a mile and turned around and came back home. Im ready to pull what hair i have left out.

Just curious how things ended up working out? What was the problem?
