I always bench bleed the master before installation, and bleed manually at lines connections afterwards, and then at bleeds until fresh, clean brake fluid appears...without issue.

OK, now I am really confused.

Are you running the ABS pump in order to avoid having a vacuum bleeder or a son to pump the pedal?

Can I just bleed it the "old fashioned" way: get someone to pump the pedal while I open the bleeder screw.

Been doing it this way for 25+ years on at least a dozen cars with ABS. Is the Wabco/D2 system somehow different?

You power bleed a LR D2 so you get all the air out of the WABCO Unit.
