Default Brakes - 2003 SE

Truck has 40,000 miles. Dealer is doing the 37,500 mile service (bought the truck Saturday).

Dealer call me this morning to tell me I have 5mm left on the front pads and that the rear pads are at 2mm and the rotors are too thin to reuse.

- I've done brake jobs before - but not on anything British.

Anything special to note in replacing all the pads and the rear rotors?

Where would you go for parts (I'm in Austin, TX)?

Anyone want to have a brake job party?

Any thoughts on the Mintex red low dust (cleaner wheels): http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Range...spagenameZWDVW

Or what about replacing all the rotors while I'm at it: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MakeTrack=true

I don't want to do something I'll regret later, but I don't want to pay dealer prices either.

For the mileage on your truck, it doesn't surprise me you need pads. As for the rotors, they are extremely thin to start with and dealers nearly always recommend replacing the rotors. My experience with them, is if your brakes don't shimmy, I would let the rotors go thru one more set of brakes before replacing them.
The brake job is very easy to do and always bleed the brakes when replacing the pads.
Let me know if you need a good site to buy some pads from, just remember no domestic pads on Rovers.
Mike

Are Mintex domestic? I like the idea of low dust.
There is no shimmy at all in the truck.
Can I get away with a pad slap, or do I need to have the rotors resurfaced?
Yes - a good site for pads would be great!

Okay, Disco Mike---- why no domestic pads on a Land Rover?
