Default Break in oil

I'm going to be breaking in a motor for the second time(ticking noise, changed rockers, no change so now I'm going to replace cam, lifters, push rods, rockers).

Lucas sells break in oil in 20, 30, and 20/50.

Which one do you guys think I should use?

I got that in 30
No reason, other than I found it in stock and it says "cool for flat tappet"

I've used Royal Purple Break-In oil with good success.
Can be found at NAPA (quantity available is only representing our local NAPA store's current stock) or your local FLAPS

I used Rotella with a quart of Amsoil additive. Worked perfectly for me.

That's what I did the first time! I'm not taking any chances this go around...

breaking in a new cam i would probably go 30 wt as long as you use true breakin oil

When I did my cam, I used Valvoline VR-1 30wt Racing Oil.
Valvoline.com > Products > Motor Oil > Racing Motor Oil > VR1 Racing Oil (VR1)

It contains ZDDP additive. According to http://www.valvoline.com/pdf/vr1_racing.pdf

It has 0.14% Zinc (1400 PPM) and 0.13% Phosphorus (1300 PPM)

I also added a bottle of ZDDPlus.

The past two oil changes, I've been using a gallon of 15W40 Rotella and 1 1/2 qts. of Valvoline VR-1 60W to top it off. Still ticks when hot, but much less. Seems to like the thicker oil and the cam likes the ZDDP and Phosphorous.

Note that Valvoline warns against use of its VR-1 racing oils in vehicles with catalytic converters, although the ZDDP and phosphorous levels are in line with other racing oils from manufacturers like Kendall (ConocoPhillips) and ExxonMobil. Probably a 'CYA' product liability move on their part.
