Won't cycling from the compressor indicate that the switch is doing its job? Otherwise it would run forever. I'll do some investigation for sure. I recently jumped the switch to test the AUX fan and I don't remember any strange behavior then, and the switch worked fine in the old truck however anything is possible. Not exactly something I want to leave alone and simply hope everything is OK. AC is too important ;)

Rereading your clip from the manual, sounds like maybe my low side switch has failed.

Agreed that it's important - saves your window regulators too.

Cycling from the compressor would normally indicate that the switch is doing its job: to protect the compressor from either too low or too high of pressure - look at the table above. If the compressor kicked on while the system was empty, I'm thinking faulty pressure switch because the circuit was closed when it should have been open.

Well this just got weirder. I went to put a meter on the switch and found this. WTH??

Edit: OK, at least one riddle is solved. As I was typing the above it dawned on me that there could be a very simple solution to this so I went back out to check ...

Jesus, I'm a threat to the health and safety of others, I better turn in my mechanics license!!

Tough to see. Looks like the switch is jumped?

Yah, musta left that thing in there. Which on one level is good news since that means that no more troubleshooting required. On the whole other level however it sounds like I mighta fried a compressor due to my, ummm, oversight.

I called it though

Yep. I owe you one. I'm sure I would've figured it out when I swapped the drier and reconnected the line prior to charging the system, however who knows how much time I would've wasted troubleshooting the circuitry had you not got me thinking.
