Broken brake wires // Which way center high-mount brake wires run in tail door?
Anyone know which way the high-mount / center brake light wires route in the tail door?
Here's why. Cruise wasn't working. Then realized my high mount stop lamp wasn't working (I seem to remember cruise stops working when this bulb burns out). New bulb didn't fix. Got out the multimeter, NO continuity to power or ground (so both wires must be broken. Odd. Then I gave them a tug and they pulled right out of the door frame thru the hole above the center mount lamp)
The **only** thing I can think is that when the ladder was installed (years ago!) the wires got pinched or drilled into for the top ladder rivnuts. Ugh. Do the wires go around that way or towards the hinges from the center mount lamp?
A couple pics to explain
Found out why the brake light wasn't working! These just tugged out with a light pull Both wires broken at the same spot Hmm.. suspicious isn't it Seems to line up pretty darn well with the ladder mounts, doesn't it? Or did they go this way (in which case...why would they break there)
Ripped off the door panel and found my problem. Clearly got wrapped up in the drill when the top rivnuts for the ladder was installed. Also - the wiring goes up around the outer edge of the door, not the hinge side.
