Broken Wheel Studs And a Suprise
Hi everyone,
I have been a member for a few months and now need advice.
I have a 04 Discovery with 73,000 miles, I have had it for a year and love it.
(yea I know it is a sickness, I have a bunch of British stuff in my garage)
I have two broken wheel studs on the left rear.
I just looked on line to order wheel studs and discovered I need to get the entire hub
.
Now the questions....
1: Is this for Real?
2: Is there a good place to get a hub?
3: Should I look for used? (I have had good luck with "The Car Cannibal in Oklahoma)
4: Is there any "tar pits" I should be aware of when doing this job"
I have down loaded the manual.
Thanks in advance for the time and help.
Cheers,
Tom

New hubs are expensive but will tillery, paul grant, justin at lucky 8 all will have low mileage hubs. I'm sure you could replace the studs though if have the know how. Replacing a hub is easy urban panzer has a walk through on his site.
Hi Mike,
I did a brake job a month ago and a made sure and tightened all the lug nuts with a torque wrench to the proper spec. However I did not grease them.
I have put on 1000 miles since the brake job.
will the lack of grease call this failure?
