Default build ideas for my 04

one of these days when the settlement happens from my accident that i was on a couple months back that required a my shoulder to be surgically repaired i have a vision on what my rig will be when i have some cash,,,

that being said.

i want a OME 2" lift. question being,,,

what is the tallest sidewall i can run on my 18" HSE wheels?

my plan is the mentioned wheel set up on a lift. rock rails, winch bumper, saudi grill with lights mounted behind. light protection all around. shields for the diffs, steering box, and tank.

and some other things i am working on in the mean time.

basically a rig that is perfectly capable for moderate off roading on trails and snow. and has good highway manners for my alaska trip.

i have rambled on, but that is the oxycontins fault haha

On the 2" OME lift you can run any 32" tire. If you want to push for 33" tires go for the extra heavy duty OME lift, it's closer to 3" of lift. I do recommend selling the 18" wheels for a set of 16"s. Ride is smoother, personally I think the 16"s look better, and you could actually make a profit from selling the 18"s. I do like your armor plans though, I want to run all the same stuff on my rig :P

I agree, go with 16" tires, you can go to a 285/75/16 tires and it will handle much better off road.

but that much of a tyre size increase will put a LOT more stress on the axles / diffs and drivetrain, and slow it down considerably.....

If you go that big imo, you need to "think" about heavy duty halfshafts etc etc.

"if" its a fun trail truck + daily on road vehicle, I "personally" would not go any bigger than 265/75/16 (32")

yeah i am not looking to rock crawl or anything like that. there just isnt that kind of terrain around here.

i do want the extra clearance and tire bite in snow and muddy trails but for now i want to stick with the 18" wheels and a 2" lift. so it sounds like a 32" tire is what i will be looking at.
