Default burning smell at rear well

Hello,

I've got a '94 disco, 97k. When I drive for about 1 hour or 15 miles, there is a burning smell not from the left rear tire. I'm sure of that much. What are the possibilities? The rotors have to be replaced and have lips which could be rubbing the caliper but that wouldn't really smell, it would be a grinding sound (happened to the front wheel). Any ideas?

Thanks, RM

It take you a hour to drive 15 miles? Where do you live?
You say it IS coming from the rear tire or is NOT coming from the tire area?

You most likely have a caliper that is stuick, not releasing the brake pads and overheating.

Sorry for the confusing post. The smell comes up at the left rear well when I drive 15 miles (stop and go) or for an hour on the highway. It doesn't smell like rubber or electrical burning. Its a different burn smell. Maybe brake pad as Discomike said. Gonna check that today.

Does it seem to lack power and/or use more fuel? If it does, then there probably is a sticking caliper piston.
