Out of those two, the 02 looks like a better buy just off the info provided.
Great thanks! Is there anything in particular that you don't like about the '03? (Just out of curiosity)

the 03-04 models had the poorest machining of the entire run of rover v8s. The 2002 and earlier blocks are mostly all much better machined. You’ll most likely encounter cracked blocks and slipped sleeves during an overheat events on the 03-04 according to anecdotal evidence on the forums.

the 03-04 looks nicer -IMO- and has more power, but the earlier models were built better. I bought an 03 because it had a 2000 4.6 block from a Range Rover and this better machined. It was confirmed upon tear down to do the headgaskets that it was indeed a very well machine block.

the 03 had no cdl and has the upgraded headlights

the 02 has the 4.0 engine that is said to be a bit stronger vs the 2003-2004 4.6 litre

Buy the one that has the most service records and better looked after.

Just based off info provided...that 02 is in the correct price range. The 03 is not worth nearly what they are asking, in my opinion and l'm aware things run higher over there. But, to many issues listed and repairs on some of them can be staggering, especially A/C. Plus, that 03 looks like it's been ridden hard and put away wet.

Can't seem to reach the '02 seller, for now I am trying to get the service records for the '04 and '03, still thinking about the '04 because it is my favorite color of all time (vienna green) and it has the cdl but for now the '03 has better history (less rust, new front drive shaft, new water pump, new sparkplug wiring, new spark plug and new brakes)

Main goal is to restore it so it can be my new daily driver and take it off road occasionally (not planning on adding any lift kit at the moment so pretty light off roading ahead)
