That's a bit much for an 03 even in great shape. I paid 12500 for my 04 which was in great shape with a new block from Atlantic British and I'm in Canada where I think the prices are a bit higher. And mine came with full set of winter tires and full warranty. I would try and get it for 9000 10000 with some type of warranty just in case u run into any bugs

Well, it's not going to happen, I couldn't get it under 11500. Oh well.

Yeah. Location really makes a difference. I assume any 4wd or awd in Canada is desirable, and make the prices higher than some place like Dallas, TX where it's not really needed much.

If you visit the Australian land rover owners forum, aulro, some of those guys still pay up to $20,000 for a nice D2a. Since they hold their value better, those guys seem to have no problem dropping some big bucks on cool upgrades and gadgets.

In the 13,000 and up price range, you can get an LR3. They seem to have less problems than the D2 from what some people are saying. I'm thinking about saving up and replacing my TL with one... one of these days. A RRS would be nice too... but those start at more like 30,000 used... and I don't know HOW long it would take me to save that many pennies.

Maybe a relative will win powerball tonight and buy me one....

I bought my 03 out of death range, 35000 miles I am 2nd owner for $17000.00 cash hell I think 5 years ago. If he wants 13k with 79k on it tell him to pass that joint because he is high as hell. Does he have service records? Head gaskets done? Plugs, wires changed? I just did a KBB on my Rover and I did not include any add ons. My truck stock with 100000 miles which I just hit is valued at $6400. he is asking twice that much. My BBS rims and ARB bumper are worth more than the truck they are attached to. As said before offer him 5k. Do not pay 13k for a 5k truck. Shop around more are waiting to be bought. Hell post an add on here

RRS & LR3s may be more reliable, but they're a lot less DIY friendly. LR3s have 1500 wires just controlling the suspension and the new RRS (not sure about th older ones) has 20 on-board computers. Go to MIT first for an EE degree, then buy one of those!

DIIs are about at my mechanical limit. I love the LR3s (test drove several before buying), but I'm military and never know where I'm going to end up (been overseas for last 11 years until last June), and the nearest LR-savvy mechanic may be a long ways, so for me, the DII was the better choice.

SORRY TO TOTALLY GO OFF TRACK WITH THIS THREAD.

To Dan7 and the rest of our military members, I thank you for your time served I know its a hard time to see what we've seen over there and to be away from your families for extended periods of time. But every minute of your time is appreciated!

Thanks, but in case I led anyone to believe otherwise, I had my family with me for the vast majority of that time. We were able to see some wonderful places most folks only dream about and we're very greatful & blessed.

I noticed this when I visited Australia. A lot of super kitted out D2's, D1's, Range Rover Classics, and of course Defenders. It looks like they have a lot more aftermarket support there, plus having a rig like that is necessary for some.

I feel you there man! I didn't even own a car for my first 3 years in the service. I moved from Great Lakes, IL to Groton, CT to San Diego, CA to Pearl Harbor, HI in the matter of just over 14 months. I have been in Pearl Harbor since 2010, and have spent time in Japan and Guam, and of course deployments. So having time to work on my D2 is scarce. But I would HATE to have to work on a LR3, just too much work... plus air suspension *shivers* I have had terrible experiences with it.

Anyways, back to point: Bichette, or anyone else, should get exactly what they want if they have the money. However just from a market value standpoint, a D2 in my opinion isn't worth more than 8 to 10K. A reasonable price in my opinion is 5 to 6K.
