Default Buying my 1st Disco

Hey all I am thinking about purchasing a 1997 Discovery to turn into a off roading monster,I have always liked them.Its going to cost $1500. dollars seems to run good and drives good until you have to sit in traffic the gauges goes almost to hot.I will want to fix any and all problems and lift it any and all suggestions are helpful.Thanks in advance...

There are a TON of things that can and will be wrong with it, but with a little love it willbe more than worth it. I have a '97 with 172k on the clock and it runs like a top.
As for running hot check the coolant level, if you buy it replace the thermostat.
The DI's are vwery easy to work on, parts are average price and lots of accessories are avalable.
Here is a web site that I buy a lot of parts from just to give you a idea, AutoZone has most parts, but this has all.
