Default Buying a new 1996 Disco

Hi, I am buying a 1996 Land Rover Discovery. It only has 101,000 miles on it and the price I got it for is a steal, so I couldn't pass it up. I'm a new Land Rover owner and I'm wondering if anyone has tips or recommendations they would have me look into, or things I should beware of. I'm looking to keep this for a while (hopefully get another 100,000 miles out of it). I'd appreciate any feedback!

DiscoMike has graciously gathered a list for the 60K service, also recommended to new owners to make sure everything is up to par. Scroll down on this link....

If you are lucky enough to get any of the service history, that would be great. With the age of the truck, mileage is great, I would highly suggest you follow my list to the letter to get the most out of your truck. If you have any questions, get back to me.

You've piqued my interest: How much did you end up paying for it?

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks a lot for the advice, I'll look into all of it! I know the people and they have three rovers. They are giving me this one for only $500 so I couldn't pass it up. They also have all of the service records with it. The only impairment is from a deer collision. Luckily, the brush bar took most of the impact and so the grill just looks a little ugly, which I'm sure I can fix up. DiscoMike, I took a look at that 60k service list and it looks great. I'll admit I'm a novice with Rover care, but I'm eager to learn. How much do you think those materials would approx. cost? I'm very willing to buy them and research/learn how to do the maintenance myself.

You are getting the best year model.
YES THATS WHAT I SAID!!
And the window sticker on mine was just north of 42k in 96.

In May of 1994 the 95 Disco came out and if you take this into
account the 96 out sold every other year model.
But if you go by the numbers the 95 just out sold the 96.
A note of history.

I just got the service reports, within the last two years, it's gotten rear brakes, a power steering pump, front brake pads, new muffler, new starter, and 2 front calipers
