Wow! that is very helpful!! Thanks very much - although I must confess I am having trouble orienting to what I am seeing (I've never had my dash that far apart) - could you zoom out a bit and take another pic so we can clearly orient ourselves to your photo?

I don't have any other pictures at this time but maybe these marked up will help.

Sorry those did not turn out as big as I thought they would.

Thanks for the clarifying photos, they have me wondering though if it could be made to work correctly by attaching an extension to the end of the current diverter door - based on what you have seen in there what do you think?

I don't think you could. As mentioned earlier your best bet would probably be a sweatshirt or one of those things you put in front of your house door to block the draft of air.

Old thread, but still helpful. Some random flat black piece of plastic dash fell into the windshield black hole a few weeks ago and it's been blowing cold air out the defrost on the right all week. About to shove a towel in that gap...

All the D1/D2's I've ever owned did this. When I had my dash apart I saw the gaps in the flaps, and left it alone.

I was researching the same issue on a 1999 DII. Slight A/C airflow out of the right defroster duct causing condensation during high humidity although little or no airflow out of the left. Defroster actuation seems to work properly as airflow is balanced and full force when defrost selected. No fault codes during self-test of AC/Heater control head.

I guess the fact that airflow on the right is present versus very little on the left is just characteristic with the circulation given the vent holes that are present?

Thank you.
