Here's the update from O'Brien's:

James says that my water pump has failed. He doesn't recommend driving it away because he says the shaft in it is loose and could completely fail. He wants to replace the water pump, and while he has it off, he wants to reseal the front cover--and while he has that off, he wants to inspect the timing chain and replace it if necessary.

Does anyone have any concerns with these recommendations? Or is this solid advice at 130k miles? My front cover leaks for sure. Honestly, doing the water pump and timing chain would really basically mean I've resealed the whole engine and replaced a few worn out parts. So that sounds great, but I'm worried about the cost.

Anyone know what a typical estimate for this kind of work would be?
