A/C help ....Evaporator ?
Anyone ever replaced their own evap for the ac?
ive been having issues with my ac not blowing very hard and cycling from warm to cold air even as far as one side blowing cool air and the other warm.
Took it to the shop today and vacuumed out all the refrigerant and re filled it. Problem is still there no change.
shop wants to replace my evap but said the entire dash needs to be removed. Anyone have any knowledge of this? Help, tips, stories?
cant find anything online to help.
im looking at around $1,500 to fix it.

Update:
So I picked it up drove down the road and all I had was hot air.
I turned around and took it back considering i had some decent cold air coming out and now nothing.
i got a call saying the compressor wasn’t getting power which was not the issue before and that they fixed it back to normal.
Im leaning more towards just biting the bullet and taking to Land Rover if I don’t get any help.
I dint really trust small shops for this job after this incident.
Any help is is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys

TAKE IT TO ANOTHER AC SHOP ASAP............
You probably have no compressor engaging due to low freon = pressure switch must detect pressure or the system does not allow the compressor to engage. Or they unplugged it and hope you are a fool. Normally when one side vs the other varies at the same setting = low freon. If you still have your R134A sticker on the front core support anyone with a good HVAC background can hook it up to the HVAC machine, evac it, and then put the proper amount of freon the vehicle states on the sticker (no rear A/C & Rear A/C equipped vehicles have different amounts so go by what you have and the sticker).
I've never heard of clogged Evap cores.... Maybe externally, but internally nah they normally leak and need replacement.

Update
Picked it up. Seems to be working fine on the way home even alittle bit colder and both sides are the same temp. Will see how long it last.
im removing the cowl for a new one right now and realized this thing has been roaming around with out a cabin filter for who knows how long.
Could that dirty the evaporator or cause issues?
