A/C overheat at idle only
The Condenser is now cleans and is allowing air thru, appears to be working fine, and the Compressor is not overly hot or causing fan belt squeak from being seized up.
Hey CollieRover you mentioned your compressor not getting overly hot could you please explain what you mean by that. I ask because when my compressor is running it gets extremely can’t touch hot and my a/c comes out plenty cold thru the vents and I have no weird noises or belt squeal from the compressor.

Definitely something I will look into because when I try to take a infrared thermo read of a/c hoses I can’t have my hand near the compressor because of the heat it throws off
My temps are fine until I am in traffic for about a 20 minutes, then they increase over normal.
Also, my voltage drops below 13 as well. Not sure if related. This just started happening to me, and I recently drove 8 hours in 80 degree heat A/C blazing never went above 204. The two factors that have changed are external temp and traffic, but going faster does not seem to affect the temp with the A/C on. It seems to stay up. So something is wrong somewhere.

After a good test drive with Ambient Temperature at 79, Coolant temp at 205 the A/C Compressor was 162F, FYI.
Reading through the Cooling System Description in RAVE, I am leaning towards some type of Coolant Flow Issue. I have heat so I do not believe it to be the Coolant Pump. Temping out the hoses with a Infrared Temp Sensor the Radiator is cooling. I believe that the Thermostat is not working correctly, and I am not getting the full flow of the Radiator fluid through the engine. There could be another cause, but it has been flushed and refilled within a year. I can't think of another cause aside from the Thermostat, or simply poor design of the system. I ordered a Britpart 180 Thermostat on Amazon per Best4x4's recommendation and will install that when it comes. If that doesn't do it, it is inline thermostat time which is well overdue.

On my 97 XD I had noticed the WP pulley had a little play in it, and it also made a creaking sound whenever you turned the engine off. I ordered a replacement WP, and when I removed the old unit I was shocked to find an old D1 radiator plug wedged up inside of the impeller!!! There was probably 65% of the plug up under there. The XD has a new Nissens radiator so it’s from a previous radiator. I could only get one piece out and that was by prying it out with a screw driver. There is no way that WP was pulling the usual amount of coolant with that crap up inside the impeller!
On the Britpart look up inside of it. It should be stamped 78C. They’ve worked really really good for me!

THe plot thickens. I drove to an appt. and got my kid at daycare and put the A/C at Auto for the vents, but not for fan. Ambient temperature 84, temp selected the same. Coolant temp reached 204 briefly, but mostly anywhere from 197 to 200.
The voltage only went to 13.0, not below.
I wonder if the cabin fan blasting with my Pontiac GTO fans, the Rear A/C fans and Aux fan are too much for the Alternator or system.
