Default cam sensor info and wiring

I am a newbee to the forum and hoping to learn more about the cam sensor on a 4.0L from a 97 Disco II. The engine is being transplanted into a TVR 2500M and run by a Megasquirt controller. Right now it runs fairly well but I know it can do much better with sequential injection and that requires the cam sensor. The harness to the sensor was cut off about 6" from the plug. I've not been able to find a wiring diagram or info on the sensor itself. Thinking it is a Hall Effect sensor as there are 3 wires and one is a heavier brown with an orange stripe so I surmise it is 12V? The other two smaller wires are a red with a black stripe and I'd guess it is the sensor output? The third wire is gray with a blue stripe so maybe signal ground? Am I close or way off in the weeds? Any help is greatly appreciated.

You can download the factory manual (called Rave) and there is some good operational description as well as wiring diagram.

If the source vehicle was from 1997, it's not a Disco 2. The Disco 2 started in 1999 so yours should be from a Disco 1. Same overall engine block, but many of the systems will be different and it may not even be a 4.0L.
Looking up info on the D2 may lead you astray if that's actually the engine you have.
