Mine has a hole and a gap where the smaller hose (towards the firewall) saddles onto the larger one.

Any help would be appreciated.

In fact, is a hole or a crappy seal on that a problem or no?

That's the intake hose.

A hole there is a problem, as it lets un-metered air into the engine.

Reach out to Paul Grant, he can send you a replacement.

Will letting "un-metered" air into the engine mess with the idle at all? I'm still having some very tiny variations in the idle when in Drive and stopped (stoplight, stop sign, etc.).

It can and will fluctuate idle, the ECM is not taking that air into account. It may hesitate also.

I suspected this was true, but I, not being a mechanic or expert...mostly a shadetree sort of guy, didn't want to start buying parts and just throwing it at the truck.

Thanks so much man.
