Can the dealership goodwill repair out of warranty?
Wow, i am shocked!! i was waiting to hear what happened and I thought you had no chance!! Well at least we know now LR dealers might have a good side!! (but that doesnt mean i am leaving my indy mech!!) Anyways that great that they worked out a deal.
Congrats ... I figured with the past history they SHOULD help you out ...
I was AMAZED I bought mine used and took it to the dealer for a recall check , They had serviced it since new , They printed out ALL service and repairs records for me ...Then informed me of the three "free services" I had coming to me

I figured you would be o.k,I've had really good luck with the dealer here in Ottawa when it comes to goodwill. One of the main deciding factors is that you are a regular customer. Most dealers will really go to bat for you with head office if they know your truck and they can verify that you do your regular servicings. Most people who bitch about Land Rover service never take their trucks to the dealer unless they figure they can get something for free. You have to remember it's a two way street.I do my servicings with Land Rover Ottawa like clockwork and spare no expense when it comes to maintaining my truck.I had a pretty expensive "out of warranty" issue last year(intake gasket),and after looking at my spotless service records, the Service Manager stepped up to the plate with Land Rover Canada and had it covered. At that point my Discovery was over a year out of warranty,it's an 01'.When I hear people complain about "the stealer" they are more often than not the people who never service their trucks there in order to save a couple of dollars.Like I said,it's a two way street.
My Dealer wanted $170 for WIPER BLADES... It might be a two way street just try not to rape me this bad ... $48 shipped from Atlantic British and ten minutes to change them myself
I know parts prices are through the roof, but it's not the dealer who dreams up the prices, its the good folks at Land Rover.Heck,I just forked out the best part of $300cdn for a set of OEM rubber floor mats for my Discovery this afternoon. Here's the weird part,a set of rubber mats for an LR3 was $100 less!
this is not on land rover anymore. The lack of fixing this problem is at the fault of the dealership. We always pay for a fix if there was an incorrect diag. whether or not it is out of warranty.
p.s. the shuttle valve replacement for shuttle valves usually doesn't fix the problem. actually LR published a bulletin statiung that when the vehicle is under warranty the shuttle valves should be replaced and the customer should be warned that problem may occur. If this happens the ABS modulator assy. will need to be replaced, witch will run you about 2000 from a dealership. i am willing to bet you need a modulator and i would definately persue getting you lr dealer to pay for the fix

Just an update... Its now October... the light proble has started happening again... Land Rover is now telling me its the shuttle valve... Grrrrr. $1200 to fix it. WTF!
I bet this was the probelm all along... The delaership told me that the $100 shuttle valve repair kit (that Land Rover sells) doesn't work and I need to replace the whole thing.
UGH.
