Red face Can I drive with out CDL?

I have a 03 with no CDL I would like to remove the front drive shaft and I dont know if it will drive just on the rear drive shaft with out locking the CDL?
Sorry I know I have read post like this a 1000 times but I cant remember if you have to lock your CDL before it will work!
Thanks

I hope someone corrects me if im wrong, But I dont' think it will drive off the rear drive shaft since you don't have the ability to lock the t-case.

CDL locks both front and rear drive shafts to spin at same speed. You can imagine a non locking t-case as an open diff like what we have on our front and rear axles. (ETC controlling wheel slippage and transferring power to the needed wheel)

So

The front flange off the t-case will just spin and you won't go anywhere since that is the point of least resistance. What are you trying to do?

Again, correct me if im wrong. =)

all your power will be directed to the area with the least resistance... which would be where your front driveshaft used to be... so no, not a good plan...

No you can't drive without the front drive shaft in, and even if you had a locking CDL you should only do this to "limp" home if you break something, the spider gears in the diffs aren't strong enough to handle running just one for too long.

What the other guys said is correct. I am just curious why you were thinking of doing that. What are you hoping or expecting to accomplish? If we know what you're trying to do maybe someone can think of another way to do the same thing.

If you need to move the 03 while the shaft is being rebuilt get a couple friends and some beer and let them push while you steer.
