Question Can you identify my motor and trans??

I have a Disco 2 S model that came with the 4.6L that blew a head gasket.. I found a nice guy a few years ago that rebuilt a Range Rover Engine for his wife, but sold it to me instead and installed it for only $3500.00 which was all I could afford.. He's big in his church so I have faith in the guy.. Only issue I have is it leaks oil and I can't seem to locate the guy anymore..
I believe it is a 2003 Range Rover P-38 engine, but I think the Trans was changed out too without my knowledge

I did an oil change just a month ago, and put in a full bottle of Lucas Oil Stop Leak.. yesterday the engine sounded weird so I checked the oil and I was a full 2 quarts low!! I will include pictures of the only spot I can see a leak.. I will say that when I have done oil changes, I have not put a new crush ring on the drain plug, instead I have RTV'd it.. So is that my problem? and where do I get new plug crush ring? Dealership?

Pictures show angles on engine and trans as best I could get it..

I really need a positive I.D. on the engine for future reference and the Trans as well.. Thanks guys

you can get a new crush washer at just about any parts store, just keep flipping it over no need to replace every time. Your front seal looks fine as does most of the oil pan, how about a picture of the lower bell housing were it bolts to the motor. If you have a real main seal it will show up there.

Doubt that it is a 2003 P38 since the last model year was 2002. If it's a 4.6, then it may be from a later model P38.If your D2 came with a 4.6 or when he swapped engines the transmission was changed too you will have a ZF 4HP24. If you had a 4.0 and he didn't swap transmissions then you have a ZF 4HP22.

So your tranny is a ZF24 and those leaks are very minor, how often do you check your fluid levels, sounds like not nearly enough?
As for the crush ring mine is the original from the factory, now 14 years old. You don't need to replace it, every time you do an oil change just remove the washer and turn it over.
Quit putting engine oil stop leak in that engine. Put your truck on a level spot, and prior to a cold start fill to the full mark on the dip stick, then every week when level and before a cold start, check it and if you think you are loosing a lot, get back to me and I'll walk you thru what to do and check/

Again I still need to confirm this engine please...

Does it appear to be a P-38? How do Identify the engine, is there a tag on the engine somewhere?

Here is the picture of the Trans tag... does that help?
Thanks

Interesting you're reviving this thread from three years ago. Is this in some way related to your other thread about the O2 sensors?
