Can't believe I'm asking this question... is Lucky 8 legit?
Over the years I go back and forth on whether they're worth buying parts from. They're often the least expensive of the normal LR-specific part houses, but I've also never had more problems with parts than I do whenever it's from L8. To the point where I have to almost treat them like I do Spirit Airlines and tell myself that yes, they're there, but just pretend they're not even a real option to begin with.
The bulk of issues stem from their terrible website and the lack of information, like brand names, and then ending up with a part that's some no-name dumpster brand that's DOA. Other times it's their shipping, with packages often arriving totally destroyed and the contents damaged along with. This isn't 100% their fault, as the carriers could do better handling things, but then again, knowing this, they could package things better? I remember one time getting a water pump sent to me loose in one of those poly envelopes, for example.
IDK, I'm currently going through a customer service ordeal with them and telling myself NEVER AGAIN. But then, I've gone through this routine so many times in the past and then get lured in with either too-good-to-be-true pricing or just general availability.

To be fair, car parts in general have been dumpster fires lately. I usually order everything from Atlantic British. They have great customer support, I believe they price match, and they ship quickly. I've ordered from Lucky8 before with mixed results. They have fantastic customer service when you inquire about something. One shipment had the wrong part in it but that wasn't their fault. My biggest gripe in the past was how long it took them to ship an order. Oddly enough, I have had better luck buying their stuff off amazon. It's the same price as their store, shipping is free if you are a prime member, and in my experience gets here faster.
I haven't bought much from them, but what I have has been perfectly fine. Parts as expected; delivery time as expected; what help I've asked for, I got. In general, I do tend to be careful about what I buy from whom. I've heard enough complaints about them that I'm sensitive to which sorts of things I'll order from them.
I totally agree with you about the lack of detail in the descriptions. That bothers me, and probably costs them business.

When I did some major maintenance, I tried to get as many LR OEM parts as possible - Lucky had a part that I couldn't source anywhere else - unfortunately the part was damaged - they were very good about refunding me - the part was used and damaged - not damaged in shipping
I have been buying from them for years they are selling the same brands as everyone else really britpart and allmakes. The stuff they make in house Proud Rhino is exceptional in quality. Shipping damage happens FedEx attempted to kick the life out of my rock sliders for the 110 but they only managed to get the hardware.
They are a solid crew and I will keep on buying from them for the bulk of my needs. Some things I have to get from Roversnorth as Lucky8 doesn’t have some of the odd ball crap for the 83 110

Your not alone in this assessment. I have sworn off them in the past. Bought a set of Goodridge Brake Lines and to my surprise AllMakes showed up. Called them up and they were out of stock so they sent the Allmakes. They made it right but....one of the lines failed a few yrs later. Ended up getting the Goodridge lines anyway. I've had other instances when using the web site like long shipping times that were not disclosed. It's interesting that when I use the Ebay Store or Amazon I've never had an issue. Part ships fast and matches description. I usually use Rovers North, AB, BPUtah and L8 when on the search. I have found they all have great customer service. If it wasn't for this I would probably kick them aside. To your point the web site is lacking big time in description and "In Stock" status. I have found calling them is the best option to find out the brand and in stock status.

I’ve used them a decent bit over the years and I don’t think had any really bad results. I’ve read a lot of stories of customer service and communication issues and such, but I can’t say anything as they’ve been acceptable to me. Given the choice between the 2, I use AB. I’ve started using Rovers North a bit more, but they are awful proud of a lot of stuff.
In terms of offering productive input, it seems they are a bit more focused these days on newer stuff like the new Defender. I’m sure there is a dramatically greater margin for them there anyway. They used to be way more active in the D2 scene, but I think that has dropped off considerably. On some of the failbook groups, they used to do weekly deals that were quite good and I took advantage a few times with good results.
I dunno, as mentioned, most anything service industry oriented in any way is a total dumpster fire post social engineering exercise. You can’t just shut down society and then miraculously start it up again and not expect longer term ramifications for businesses…
