case of the drips
I drive 32 miles to work, one way(25 of it on interstate). I typically get 14.3 to 14.9 mpg, I drive 75 to 80 on the interstate. If I drive 65, I get 14.5 to 15.1 Not enough of a difference to me to drive the 10 to 15 slower. I have Bosch +4 plugs, but have not changed the wires yet. All synthetic fluids (brakes, steering, tranny, engine, transfer case and diffs). One week, for two days, I averaged 16.1. I think I must have had a great tailwind both directions. I use my ScanGaugeII to track my mpg, it does a very accurate job.
In town driving only usually runs at about 13.3 to 14.2, depending upon stoplights.
Our F350 Crew Cab Dually V10 gets 10mpg... and it weighs right at 8000 pounds. THis lightweight disco better not ever drop that low!!

I glanced at my gas guage the other evening noticing that it had a quarter of a tank left and I had traveled 200 miles on the tank so far. I began to think I was getting better mileage, but 25 miles later the light came on and i was pumping the 93 octane again.
The rover already weighs 6600 lbs The weight of a winch bumper isn't going to cost me 4-5 mpg in town.
It doesn't matter how I drive, the result has been the same. I've tried driving 65 on the interstate. In town I very rarely hit 35. And I never just punch the gas pedal. I do my best to be very easy on the pedal. Use the brakes early. Everything that you would do to conserve gas while driving, I do. I imagine that I'm always on my last ounce of gas. The result 10 mpg. I've also tried to run the wheels off it. 10 mpg.
In town, or interstate, the result has been the same. I have never come across this situation before. And I have owned alot of different vehicles.I really feel that there is something mechanical going on. I am going to switch to the iridium plugs this morning even though I put the bosch +4s in 5k ago. I put another can of seafoam in yesterday afternoon. Thanks everyone for the input. I'll let you know what happens.

I am running 255/85/16 M/T tires with a 3" old man emu lift.....I have never gotten better than 11 MPG. I rarely drive above 65 mph (with the lift and tires my rig is all over the place anyway). The people getting 15-17 mpg must be running cookie cutter tires with no lift. I can’t imagine that a tune up can make 5-10 mpg difference regardless. Does anyone running a 4x4 set up (lift, tires, etc) get any better than 10-11 mpg?
And dont say that you cant drive 65 because it takes to long because a 200 mile trip at 70mph takes 2.85 hours and at 65 takes 3.07 hours.
So that is a difference of .22 hours, so 22 min longer at 65 than at 70.
But you get 17mpg instead of 10.
So at 17mpg that is 11.76 gal of gas and at $3.00 per gallon thats $35.28.
At 10mpg you will use 20gal of gas and at $3.00 per gallon that is $60.
Is 22 min worth $24.72?
I NEVER drive faster than 65, EVER. (unless I need to pass to get out of the way but then its only for a mile or so)
Remember...speed kills, or is it crack kills? I dont remember.

That should be just over 13 minutes Spike. 0.22hrs = 60 X 0.22 = 13.2 min.
Even less of a reason to be in a hurry!

he was using the metric math system and metric time table
Spike I didn't think you or anyone else was bragging or being a jerk. Sorry if I gav that impression. I have the new plugs in and will let you know if that helps. Got my fingers crossed. Also, i was wrong about the weight. I took it to the scales and came out with 5327lbs with me(145lbs) and a half tank of gas. Not too far above the original curb weight listed on new-cars.com(4908lbs). They also list mpg as 12 city and 16 hwy. Those things are never right. I know what i want for Christmas. (15 mpg) lol. Thanks for all the tips.
Has anyone had experience good or bad with BP 93 octane? It is the best I can get locally with out going to the race shop or the airport.
