Default Catalytic Converter

Just got my third Disco, this one an 03 SE, though it does have the third row and back seat AC, mechanic gives it a clean bill of health except for a rattle from the Cat Converter. Sounds slightly like my old Harley on warm up and accelerate.
I've heard that this is something LR dealers may fix under some federal mandate.
Anyone heard or know anything about this?

How many miles on your truck??????????????????
If you read the warranty section of your owners packet you will see where it talks about both Federal and State coverage, it will vary from state to state up to around 8 years and or 70,000 miles for coverage.

Hey Ken,

My 2000 DII was doing the exact same thing, my mechanic said the cat was falling apart internally (damaged from blown head gasket).
Anyway, was all set to go with hi-flo cats when I called LR America. Much to my suprise, my cats were covered for 8 years or 80,000 miles (whichever comes first). So how could I argue free replacement?
So you are in with years, just need the correct miles and you should be all set.
Hope nothing else is contributing to your problems!

Good Luck

Nick

Worse case, you can replace with a universal Cat. I have them on 2 of my vehicles. Works fine. Only problem I've had is the welds break that hold on the shields. If you go with a universal (or for anyone else out there), I recommend drilling holes in the corners (near where the shield welds are) andsecuring witha #8 stainless steel stove bolt/nut. That'll save ya from doing it from under the vehicle in 2 years.

You know what's funny about cats? They're only about 3-5% effective.
