Default CD player display says "no disc" but I have discs

although all 6 discs are in the factory CD changer cartridge under the passenger seat, the in-dash display says "no disc", even after cycling and "searching" thru the entire cartridege magazine. It plays no disc at all.
Ideas??????? Thoughts?

Are you using store bought CDs? Or ones you burned yourself? I had the same problem using the CDs I burned. Once I put the store bought CDs in the player worked fine.

The disc player in rovers stink! Mine will play fine for a while, then when it switches discs, it will say CD-Error. I have found that taking the magazine out and re-seating the discs help. Also, I leave the door on the player itself open, not the trim access door, the actual door. Don't know why but I have better results. As for playing, mine has trouble reading a disc that I burned from I tunes. It takes a little bit but eventually it will play. Finally your CD magazine may be shot. AB usually has them

My CD changer was underwater today for about 15minutes or so while we worked to get my rig out of the pit.

...and it still WORKS!

Take cartridge out then pull cd player out from under seat there are four little screws that hold the top cover on, remove them and re-grease the little gears inside cd player. Over time the factory grease dries up and the gears get stiff once you get gears greased up with the cover still off set on passenger floor and plug in and test you will then see all moving parts, let it run threw a cycle. This is a common problem due to the dust under the seat. Put back together and enjoy for another 100,000 miles

Wow! Where was that? You have a good deal of bravery to use the rover "properly". Glad the ECU and the BceM did not get a soaking. Mine just goes around town. in 2 months I have put less than 100 miles on it. I mostly walk into town and walk home. Glad you did not get stuck. Thanks for the pictures...!!!

It could be dust. You might want to try blowing compressed air into the CD door and see if the problem goes away.
