Default CDL

Hey all,

Is there a certain way I should be engaging the CDL feature into the Hi locked position? When I move it to the left I hear 3 beeps but no indicator lights up on the dash - is there supposed to be one or does that mean it's engaged? When I move it back to the right it makes another three beeps. I'm not sure if I'm not moving it far enough to the left but it doesn't seem to want to go any more and I'm afraid to force it. Maybe I'll just be gentle on it. Any suggestions??

there should be a light shown with 4 wheels with a X in the middle.

but the 3 beeps means it is activated and the 3 de-activated.

a easy way to tell is to get on some snow or loose road. there is a huge difference in feel from a open diff to a locked diff.

Hmm that's strange then because I get the three beeps but no dash light. Is it possible the light could be burned out?

I've never heard 3 beeps while locking/unlocking the CDL. The only time I hear beeps is when the t-case shifter is in "N". There is also an accompanying amber light on the dash with a big and little gear with an X through it.

First of all, the switch that activates the indicator light on you cluster will some time stick from lack of use, go drive it a little and see if it comes on. The other thing you can do is put it in lock position when on a parking lot and slowly drive in a full tight turn, if you feel the wheels garbbing at the ground or a lurching thru the steering wheel, you ar locked up, if not you may need to work on freeing up your linkage.
