Default cdl install question

I am in the process of hooking it up, i have a 2000 disco 2 and have an 04 shifter that i'm installing, its not all in yet, but when i move the thing to lock , nothing shows on my dash. I can start it locked or put it into lock, but no lights on my dash showing its locked. I dont want to put it all back together only to find i need to fix something. any ideas?

Sometimes you have to drive a couple feet for the teeth to line up and register. I had the same question when I put mine in a couple months ago. I did same as you too... 2000 disco 2 with an 04 CDL linkage.

Having never been used before the switch will sometimes stick causing the light to be slow coming on.
Have you already rebuilt or replaced your front drive shaft?

That was it, its working now. I just need to get the plastic part that holds the cable in the gear shifter, i broke it taking the shifter out, back to the junkyard in the morning. as for the drive shaft it has greese fittings on the u-joints, so i'm guessing it was rebuilt.
