Default CDL installation

Hi everyone. I'm a new member. I own a 2000 Disco with 157k miles. A few weeks ago I removed the whole cdl linkage from a junkyard donor (D2 2004) and I am slowly but steadily preparing myself for the installation. This website www.discovery2.co.uk/Factory Diff Lock and the video from Lucky8 are very helpful in explaining the process. I have one question to the people that have already done the upgrade. What tool did you use to cut the tranfer cover plate so that the lever can move to select diff lock?

Why didn't you just take the cover plate from the junkyard vehicle?

At any rate, a dremel is your best bet now.

Use these mounting screws instead of rivets when you put the center console plate back together. I got mine at Home Depot. Makes it easier to get to in the future.

Hope you grabbed the 04’s SLABS Unit as well! Makes it 100% PNP.

Do facelift trucks already have the cutout for the CDL selector? I swapped everything from my 04 into the 03 and don't recall a round hole in there, or anything looking like movement would be inhibited, and I'm reasonably sure that would have jumped out at me. Truck still isn't complete yet (and is an hour plus away) but while I sit here and scratch my head, would an '03 not need the transfer cover plate modified? TIA...

03 used the same plate as the 04. 99-02 was a different plate which if retained needs to be modified for the CDL Linkage.
