Its a son of a B. I just did it about 3 weeks ago, using a D1 shifter. Call me if you get stuck. My front output would not come forward with the output(diff gears) housing removed. Mine all went back together fine. I ended up having to remove the rear output, Emergency drum brake, rear propshaft and housing. Once I removed that The front slipped past those gears.

Thanks, I will. I need to get the old one out. We worked on it for 5 hours and with all the rust it is a pain. I broke the 4 rear cross member bolts on the drivers side, I plan to wield the thing back in, and did not have to remove the front cross member. I hope to get it back together Saturday and I still need to get the Amigos to go off.

We got the new one in, but I did not remove the old gear-set. I could not understand why the instructions said I had to remove them and there was no details. Hope to get the shifter hooked up tomorrow and see what it can do.

Done the install and everything seems to be working, except a exhaust leak and another issue. I need some help with this one. When I put it in 4lo the little light on the dash that has gears with a line through them comes on and it beeps. The Disco still drives, but the beeping and the light is an issue.

Got the Exhaust leak fixed, $30.00, and now I need to fix the Hi/Lo switch. I think that is the problem, unless anyone here has a different theory. I also must do the ABS option B.

Its just sensing that the xfer box is fully engage, like being half in gear that might pop out in a manual shift car as far as i understand that light. sometimes it can be tricky to change fully from lo/high... are you changing at rest or while at slow speed? mines far easier at slow speed but takes some getting used to.

It worked itself out. Thanks all. Now on to the ABS option B.
