Default CDL shifter on the cheap

Just finished putting in my cdl shifter in today. I found a 96 disco in the wrecking yard and pulled out the transfer case shifter, linkage and hardware. I also was able to use the housing off the 96 case that has the proper offset for the linkage so no bending was required. While I was at it I replaced the stuck solenoid and modified the detect switches due to intermittent continuity. All in all it cost me about 40$ for the shifter with all linkage and housing and few hours in the driveway. Works great no modification needed and best of all not much out of pocket. Looking forward to hitting some trails now!

Yup, great, cheap mod. Took me more than a few hours in the driveway though. More like a few day. No room to work in there, but at least the work is from above, not below the truck

Great mod, and for those about to do this, make sure you also get the Hi/Lo shift plate as he did so you don't have to bend and or modify the linkage.

I'm going to do a write up on modifying the detect switch as its easy and does not require any parts, only a dremel tool and a carbide bit is needed. It sure beats paying over $100 at the dealership and it's guaranteed to work.
