Default CDL shifter conversion question

I'm getting ready to find parts for a cdl shifter conversion for my 2000 and have been reading different ways to do it. I have seen both the D1 shifter and the 2004 shifter as possible options. My questions is, which one is the "better" one to go with if they both bolt right up? By better I mean a balance of ease of installation and function. I've also read the D1 shifter causes noise when added?

I just installed the D1 shifter and I have no noise. The 04 shifter is probably the easier install but usually is a lot more expensive. I don't see many 2nd hand 04 shifters out there but the Ashcroft kit is quite expensive. If price doesn't matter I would go with the 04.

If you want to do if for cheap and have lots of spare parts, go for the D1. I got mine for $15ish from a salvage yard near me. It wasn't hard to pull out and got help from another member on the forms with the instal.

Makes sure, if you buy the D1 shifter, which is a great way to go, that you clean out the pivot point, getting all the old dirt and grease, then regrease it before you install it.

get the ashcroft? conversion that doesnt require you to cut the mounting plate (which increases cabin noise alot) or have to bend the linkage arm and avoid fabing up a damn thing.
